Drink & Draw at Zizzi’s - Unguided Life Drawing (March)

Unguided Life Drawing sessions are back!!

Back in 2014 I started up a small unguided Life Drawing evening - at first it was only modestly attended, but I didn't mind - I was really putting it on so that I could get to draw a live model for my own artistic practice and I needed help with the costs.  After not very long at all, word began to spread and I had to put on TWO EXTRA sessions to accommodate demand - it became clear that Henley's appetite for a good creative outlet was no small thing!  I began looking for premises to hold these sessions, I got VERY lucky and found the Hart Street Studio and WALLOP the Henley School of Art was born.  So, you could say that I have a lot to thank those initial Life Drawing sessions for...  

It blows my mind that a decade has passed, I had almost 7 years at that wonderful studio and then Covid dropped a spanner in the works, without the larger studio I couldn't put Life Drawing sessions on any more and so they stopped.  As fate would have it, I recently came across a space that I really, really like and, rather romantically, it's opposite my old school, upstairs at the wonderful Jacobini's in Henley on Thames.

SO, after all that waffle - here's the info you need to know:

For now these sessions will run on the 3rd Thursday of every month (there are bound to be some anomalies throughout the year, but I'll do my best to stick to that pattern).  Our venue, Zizzi's, is as I'm sure many of you may know, a great place to grab some inexpensive, tasty, Italian food and our Zizzi's branch in Henley has the most lovely, large upstairs room for events, which is just PERFECT for us. So come along, grab a pizza and a glass (or two) of wine, get out your drawing equipment and let's draw!

7pm - 9.15pm - you can of course come earlier to grab a meal/drink before the session starts, I'll be setting up and no doubt eating pizza so you'd be welcome to join me!

All sessions will feature a live model.

I won't be able to provide easels sadly, but there is space for portable easels if you have your own, there are chairs and the odd table etc.  I recommend you bring your own drawing boards if you can - whilst I will be able to provide some, it might not be enough to ensure one each and I won't be able to carry anything bigger than A2.

As always I will have materials you can use (though maybe not quite the range we had at the studio!) and a limited amount of paper (50p a sheet) - paper is VERY heavy and there's no parking outside the venue, so this may be subject to change!

£20 per person, I have to limit the spaces to ensure there is enough room for everyone and to avoid feeling squashed or unable to see our model!  It does mean that I will need to ask you to pay for the session in advance so I can ascertain numbers and keep it capped - so please do sign up to avoid disappointment!  

There can be no paying on the evening I'm afraid, all tickets must be bought in advance please.

Due to an extremely small admin team of 1, the time it takes up and the financial difficulty it causes, I am unable to offer refunds / transfers to another session / gift vouchers for orders made in error, changed plans or a changed mind. Please bear this in mind BEFORE placing an order.

I am unable to offer refunds / transfers to another session / gift vouchers for forgotten/missed sessions which are the responsibility of the purchaser.

In the extremely rare case where a refund is issued there will have to be a service charge taken for my time and the payment/booking charges I will have incurred.

If it's my fault:

If you're unable to attend the session through a mishap/error on my part, I will make sure you are provided with a voucher to attend any forthcoming sessions of the same type - alternatively I will issue a refund or find another solution.

The income from all my sessions is used to pay for my time, energy and experience, as well as utitlities, business related charges, materials & overheads.
